"We are all born ready to win,
it is losing
that we must learn..."
About us
Our Dojo relies on individual guidance. We believe that only by keeping attention to each member we can fully develop their potential. Because of this principle, our Dojo has a homelike atmosphere.
Since our Senpai Benedict Albertini founded our Dojo over ten years ago we continue to grow and progress.
We aim for self-improvement rather than
scoring points in competition.
Kendo is a martial art that teaches discipline, respect and instills a confidence that carries through into all aspects of everyday life.
For that reason, we welcome kendoka of all levels and ages.
Beginners and children are very welcome.
OUR HISTORY
The founder of Muyukan Kendo was master Yoshimoto Naoto from Hiroshima, Japan.
His ideas of Kendo come from his teacher, Shohei Hori sensei who practiced traditional japanese swordsmanship of Ittō Shōden Mutō-ryū school under its founder, the enlightened Zen master Yamaoka Tesshu.
The essence of master Yoshimoto teachings is understanding the principles of the sword. He emphasises the importance of fundamentals and strong spirit beyond anything else.
